“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
— Proverbs 3:6
This morning, while working on research for The Golden Road Home, I felt the trilogy moving more fully through me:
- Book One: The Golden Road Home (This Novella manuscript is complete.)
- Book Two: Bloodlines & Ley Lines
- Book Three: The Armor & The Sword
These could be working titles, but they feel true.
And yet, in the middle of that creative current, I paused. A reel scrolled past and pierced me, bringing tears.
But instead of spiraling, I chose the next right thing.
Choosing the Next Right Thing
I cleaned the house.
I went into the kitchen.
I gathered everything to make a wonderful breakfast for me and the girls.
Earlier, I had intentionally gone shopping to prepare for mornings like this — my Perfect Saturdays.
And as we cooked, we rejoiced. We practiced gratitude in abundance.
Worship music filled the kitchen. We sang. We lifted our voices. We worshiped.
The Prayer
In that spirit of gratitude, I sat down and wrote my first prayer of the morning — one that flowed from the prayer over our food, the bounty of life, and the gift of family health.
A Prayer of Gratitude
Thank You, Jesus.
I love You with all of my life.
I feel like a masterpiece,
and I know You are not even done yet.
Yes, I am still a mess —
there is healing left to do,
lessons left to learn,
practices left to grow into
for my perfect day.
And yet —
I feel perfectly and wonderfully made,
right here, right now.
Whether disheveled or dressed,
worried or stressed,
happy or elated —
I am grateful to be in it with You.
For I can do all things in You.
You live within me.
And I am forever grateful.
Amen.
The Encounter
When I read this prayer back to myself, I began to weep tears of deep gratitude for the life I made and who I am now.
And in that moment, the Holy Spirit showed up — wrapping me in His presence, comforting me, reminding me that I am on the right path.
Out of those tears came this poem.
The Poem: Peace Profound
There are no awards that could tell you
what peace profound sounds like.
There are no words that can fully explain
how it feels to let Christ into the broken places —
to heal the heart,
to walk back through the past,
to be made new.
It is a transformation that shifts everything.
It changes the whole life.
I wish I could give it to everyone,
wrap it up and place it in their hands.
But that is not my job.
That is His.
And so I stand as witness.
Even when those around me see the change
and choose not to ask.
Even when curiosity stays silent.
Still, I know —
Peace profound is here.
Christ transforms.
And nothing can take that away.
Reflection
Sometimes it isn’t the grand plans or the finished books that matter most.
Sometimes it’s simply choosing the next right thing: to clean, to cook, to rejoice, to pray.
And in those small obediences — singing while we sweep, praising while we stir — the Holy Spirit makes Himself known.
He meets us right where we are.
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 4:7
This is a truth I hold self-evident, again, this morning, and in the words of Forest Frank, “I’ll never get used to it; this is how I want to live.”
In Jesus ‘ Holy Name, Amen.
With grace and presence,
