“To be, or not to be?”
— William Shakespeare
Shakespeare posed the question that has echoed through centuries. Yet in my journey, I’ve discovered an even deeper question rising up from the soul’s hidden places:
“To be well, or not to be well?”
And even deeper still:
Who is the “me” who is choosing?
Who God Made You to Be
Here’s what I’ve come to know in my bones:
The person God created you to be might not always align with who you think you are — or who the world tells you that you should be.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
— Psalm 139:13–14 (NIV)
It might not fit the image reflected back to you by the world or the expectations of the groups you’ve chosen to belong to. It might not make perfect sense.
Because there’s nothing perfect here except His plan.
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
— Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)
His plan is inevitable because it’s His plan. And that’s the true gift — surrender.
A gift released into each surrender, on bended knee with arms uplifted, however we find our way there — one sweet, slow step at a time.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)
The Call for Generational Healing
Sometimes, the person God created you to be is the one who can finally hear the call rising from deep within your bloodline.
The call:
- To stand up.
- To look back.
- To claim a boundary and declare no more.
- To heal the currents of love and fear flowing through your family line.
Generational healing is real.
It’s like seeing the Tree of Life light up from root to crown, each branch illuminated as the golden thread of God’s truth weaves backward and forward through your bloodline.
Sometimes, as you stand in the center of your journey, you become the place where the bloodline completes a circle — healing both what came before and blessing what is yet to come.
But here’s the truth I’ve come to see so clearly:
The One standing in the center of the circle is Jesus.
It has never been about any one of us being the savior of our family line. It has always been about Him — the true Healer, the One who bore our sins and carries the wounds that heal us.
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”
— 1 Peter 2:24 (ESV)
It is Jesus who bridges the generations. He becomes the golden thread weaving past, present, and future into wholeness.
It’s the sacred moment when past, present, and future fold into one another, and Christ’s light flows like living water through every branch and every vein, forming a tapestry of freedom, mercy, and grace.
In that vision, I see threads of pain and triumph, sorrow and love, fear and courage — all being rewoven into something new — a radiant pattern no longer bound by the wounds of generations, but redeemed by His love.
The Journey Isn’t Always Easy
Even if you are the one — or one of the few — in your bloodline chosen to walk this journey, it doesn’t mean that every day is easy.
We live in a fallen world. There are days of doubt, fatigue, loneliness, and spiritual warfare.
It’s picking up your cross daily.
“Then he said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.’”
— Luke 9:23 (NIV)
It’s remembering who you are and whose you are. It’s remembering what you believe so that you can become those beliefs — even when everything in the world tries to convince you otherwise.
It’s choosing again and again to step forward, one sweet, slow step at a time, trusting that the Jesus who called you will finish the work He began in you.
As the circle closes, the light doesn’t just stay contained — it radiates outward like ripples on water, touching every life connected to yours, whether they came before or will come after.
“Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”
— Isaiah 58:12 (NIV)
The True Meaning of Being Well
Being well is not merely physical health.
Being well is being true.
It’s living in real-time, awake to God’s presence in every breath. It’s choosing to show up in your life — even when it’s messy, even when it hurts.
It’s slowing down enough to witness how you move through each moment — how you love, how you grieve, how you give and receive.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
— Romans 12:2 (NIV)
These moments become sacred threads in the tapestry of your rare and unrepeatable life.
The Power to Choose
I believe with my whole heart:
You have a choice.
“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”
— Deuteronomy 30:19 (NIV)
A choice to choose love over fear.
Truth over silence.
Observation over reaction.
Presence over performance.
Have you discovered your voice — the one God gave you, not the one the world trained you to use?
It’s never too late to change the story of your life — or the story echoing through your bloodline.
“…so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.”
— Psalm 78:6–7 (NIV)
Becoming Who You Were Made to Be
At Circle of Grace, I believe that being well means becoming your own self-love artist — sculpting the contours of your life with God as your guide.
It means rewriting the inner scripts running in your mind until they align with His truth.
It means rising into the person God created you to be — not just for yourself, but as an instrument of healing for the generations woven into your DNA.
Because your Circle of Grace is in your hands… and in His.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
— Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
An Invitation
This journey of becoming is the journey of surrender and self-discovery — the journey that can release blessings you may never see fully in your own lifetime, but which ripple forward and backward through time.
Dreams that bring peace.
Dreams that become light for others.
Dreams that redeem the stories of those who came before.
And above all, it’s the journey of knowing the One who stands in the center of the circle — Jesus, the true Healer and the author of every story worth telling.
So I ask you:
To be well… or not to be well?
The choice is yours.
A Prayer for Those Who Don’t Yet Know Jesus
Lord Jesus,
My heart is heavy for those who say they don’t believe in You — not out of defiance, but because they don’t truly know who You are. So many walk through life never hearing Your stories, never feeling Your closeness, never glimpsing the beautiful mystery of Your love.
I pray for every person who feels distant from You. For those who think You are far away, uninterested, or unreachable. For those who’ve been hurt, confused, or turned away by religion, and for those who’ve never been shown the truth of who You are.
Jesus, You are the Wonderful Counselor, the gentle Healer, the Friend who never leaves. Break through the walls around their hearts. Speak into their loneliness, their questions, and their hidden pain. Show them that believing in You isn’t just about rules — it’s about love, freedom, and belonging.
Draw them to Yourself in ways only You can. Let them feel a whisper of Your presence, a stirring of curiosity, a flicker of hope. Give them the courage to ask, “Who are You, really?” And when they do, meet them there with grace and truth.
Thank You for Your endless patience, for pursuing every generation with love. I trust You to keep reaching for their hearts.
In Your precious name, Jesus, Amen.
You are held. You are seen. You are in the circle of grace, too.
With grace and presence,
Kellie J. Wright
